Ailsa grew up in a tiny village in Dumfries & Galloway during the 70's. The family of four was supplemented with chickens, ducks, doves, cats, rabbits and mice and it from this that her love of nature and wildlife grew.
She was always painting and drawing the things around her and always loved being outdoors. When she left school Aisla went to Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen where she studied Graphic Design and Illustration for 4 years before receiving a 2.1 BA Hons in Art & Design.
In 2001 my partner and I bought a house in the tiny village of Carsethorn which sits perched on the Solway Coast in Dumfries and Galloway. It has a pub, a telephone box and a bus stop.
From the studio she can see porpoises, otters and seals not to mention the foxes, badgers, deer and an amazing variety of birdlife. It's from this base that she gets her inspiration from.
Ailsa is passionate about creating new images from her love of the enviroment and the people and animals that surround her. Ailsa hopes that you appreciate her pinch of humour and enjoy her work.
